SPECTER COMMENTS ON THE NOMINATION OF JUDGE FRANKLIN VAN ANTWERPEN TO BE JUDGE ON 3RD CIRCUIT

Washington, D.C. - Senator Arlen Specter, a senior member of the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee, made the following comments on the nomination of U.S. District Court Judge Franklin S. Van Antwerpen to be a U.S. District Judge for the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals:

"Judge Van Antwerpen will be an excellent addition to the 3rd Circuit. He has established an outstanding record on the district court for the past fifteen years. He has an excellent educational and professional background. I am very pleased to see someone from the Lehigh Valley selected because of the interest that Senator Santorum and I have on having all regions of the state represented on the court. I am optimistic on getting Judge Van Antwerpen confirmed."
