Congressman Brown Applauds Supreme Court's Ruling Against Partial Birth Abortion

U.S. Representative Henry E. Brown, Jr. (SC-01) made the following statement after the announcement of the Supreme Court's decision today to uphold the ban on partial-birth abortion:

"As an ardent supporter of the pro-life movement, I have steadfastly fought to protect the rights of our unborn children. I applaud today's ruling by the Supreme Court against the barbaric practice of partial-birth abortions."

The Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act was introduced in the 108th Congress on February 13, 2003. The legislation received bipartisan support in the House (281-142) and Senate (64-34) and was signed by President Bush on November 5, 2003.
