Homestake Collaboration Leader Pleased with Presentations to National Science Foundation Visitation Team

Gov. Mike Rounds received word today that Dr. Kevin Lesko, leader of the Homestake Collaboration, is pleased with the group's presentations made to the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (DUSEL) site review team.

The NSF-appointed review team left South Dakota Monday, having completed its weekend meeting with the Homestake Collaboration of scientists in Lead.

"The Homestake Collaboration provided information and answered questions from the NSF team regarding the technical aspects of the Homestake site," said Gov. Rounds. "Dr. Lesko reported to me that he is pleased with the thoroughness of the review. He said he was also impressed with the expertise of the NSF review team and their insightful discussions."

The team is visiting sites vying for designation by the National Science Foundation as the location of a Deep Underground Science and Engineering Laboratory (DUSEL).
