ALLARD APPLAUDS HOUSE SUBCOMMITTEE PASSAGE OF AMENDMENT TO INCLUDE TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGY CENTER IN NATIONAL DOMESTIC PREPAREDNESS CONSORTIUM

U.S. Sen. Wayne Allard (R-Colo.) applauded the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Transportation and Infrastructure Protection of the Committee on Homeland Security for passing an amendment to include the Transportation Technology Center (TTC) in Pueblo as part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) National Domestic Preparedness Consortium (NDPC).

"I'm very pleased to see that my colleagues in the House of Representatives understand the importance of the Transportation Technology Center and the training it can provide," said Allard. "The Transportation Technology Center is a world-class facility that would fill a critical gap in our country's emergency preparedness as a part of the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium."

On Wednesday, Allard sent a letter today to U.S. Reps. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Houston, Texas) and Daniel Lungren (R-Gold River, Calif.), the chairwoman and ranking member of this subcommittee, urging inclusion of this key provision in the rail security legislation.

Now the rail security bill moves to the full Homeland Security Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives.

On the U.S. Senate side, Allard introduced an amendment Wednesday in the Senate to the Improving America's Security Act of 2007, also referred to as the 9/11 Commission bill, to have Pueblo's Transportation Technology Center included in the National Domestic Preparedness Consortium.
