Congressman Doug Lamborn To Serve On Two House Natural Resources Subcommittees Vital To The 5th District

Congressman Doug Lamborn (R-Colorado Springs), already a member of the House Committee on Natural Resources, which has jurisdiction over water, land, forestry, wildlife, and Native American issues, was selected recently by Chairman Nick Rahall (D-WV) and Ranking Member Don Young (R-AK) to serve on two key Natural Resources Subcommittees: the Subcommittee on Water and Power and the Subcommittee on National Parks, Forests, and Public Lands.

"Water supply is a grave issue facing Colorado and the Western United States," said Rep. Lamborn. "As a Member of the Water and Power Subcommittee I will be a strong voice for the people of Colorado, ensuring the 5th district's access to these vital resources."

"The National Parks and Forests are invaluable assets to our great nation, and, as much of the Fifth District of Colorado consists of public lands, it is imperative that I play a part in shaping legislation that will so greatly affect our community," said Rep. Lamborn. "My service on these two subcommittees enables me to better serve my country and constituents."

"This is a strong group of knowledgeable Members who offer a lot of expertise on the issues associated with this diverse group of subcommittees," said Rep. Young upon announcing the subcommittee rosters for the 110th Congress. "I look forward to working closely with all of them on the important resources issues facing our nation this session."

In addition to the House Natural Resources Committee and Subcommittees, Rep. Lamborn is a Member of the Veterans Affairs Committee and a Ranking Member of the Disabilities Assistance and Memorial Affairs Subcommittee, a rare honor for a Freshman Member. He is currently "on leave" from the Armed Services Committee on which he will serve when the next vacancy arises.
