Boozman: More Help Needed for Students

U.S. Representative John Boozman (R-AR) voted for the bipartisan passage of H.R. 5, the College Student Relief Act, while vowing to extend benefits to all students entering college.

"I support this bill, as it encourages further education by making student loans easier to pay off," Boozman said. "This is a good first step. However, more help is needed for students. It is unfortunate this legislation wasn't more all-encompassing."

"The reality is, this legislation does not benefit a students enrolled in college today, nor does it make it easier for prospective students to overcome the daunting task of paying for an education," Boozman continued. "As a former member of the Rogers School Board, I understand the hard work performed by students, and parents, to get into college. We should be working on making it easier for all people to get into school instead of taking care of those who are already out.

"I look forward to working with Democrats and Republicans at the end of the House lockdown to continue the increase in student aid we've witnessed the last decade, while holding schools accountable for their role in the crisis of increasing college costs," Boozman added.
