BLUNT: PRO-GROWTH REPUBLICAN POLICIES DELIVER ANOTHER MONTH OF JOB CREATION

House Republican Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) released the following statement this morning subsequent to the Department of Labor's announcement that 97,000 new jobs had been created in the month of February.

"A funny thing happens when government claims on taxpayer money are reduced while foreign investment and trade are encouraged: American entrepreneurs create new jobs.

"Today's announcement from the Labor Department serves as further proof, if any more were needed, that Republican pro-growth, pro-investment policies are being utilized by our nation's engines of economic growth to create new and better paying jobs, and to keep America competitive in the 21st century global marketplace.

"As Democrats get ready to unveil their budget plan for fiscal year 2008, they'd do well to take a hard look at how raising taxes would impact American families and the prospect of future economic growth. Democrats' first and most important responsibility when it comes to managing the economy is to do no harm. And asking working men and women of this country to send more of their wages to Washington would be about as harmful as it gets."
