Straight Talk With Sam (Counting Our Blessings)

Hopefully by now you have selected your turkey, stocked up on sweet potatoes and stuffing, and have a pumpkin pie cooling. Thanksgiving is our annual holiday to remember that we are blessed. There is no doubt that once again this year, we have much for which to be thankful.

We are blessed to live in a society of heroes. We have men and women who are willing to travel halfway around the world to fight terror so we can be safe. In this holiday season, we need to remind them we miss them and we are proud of their service to our country.

We have men and women here at home who run into burning buildings even when everyone else is running out. We are blessed with men and women who patrol our streets in the dead of night and who respond to emergencies no matter the time.

We are blessed to live in a country which is more prosperous than any other this world has ever known. A country where a dream, hard work, and a little common sense can take you anywhere you want to go.

While each family has its own unique gifts to be thankful for, Americans can be thankful they still live in the land which produces so many heroes.

I hope this Thanksgiving finds you and your family well. In this holiday season, it's just one more thing for which to be thankful.
