President Signs Legislation to Build Fence along Mexican Border
Earlier today, President Bush signed legislation authorizing the construction of a 700-mile fence along the United States and Mexican border. This bill, the Secure Fence Act, was approved by the House and Senate in September.
I supported this legislation because I know that if we are going to keep our nation safe, we have to know who is coming across our borders and who is already here. It is critical that we take steps to secure our border and prevent those from entering our country illegally. I'm pleased that we have taken a step forward on making our borders secure.
