CONGRESSWOMAN JOHNSON LAUDS SIGNING OF WRIGHT AMENDMENT REFORM ACT BY THE PRESIDENT

Dallas, Texas - (Friday, October 13, 2006) - Today President Bush signed into law, S.3661, the Wright Amendment Reform Act of 2006. The bill ultimately brings an end to three decades of long-haul flight restrictions to and from Dallas Love Field Airport. The legislation, co-authored by Congresswoman Johnson, passed by a resounding vote of 386 to 22 in the U.S. House of Representatives late last month.

"I am delighted that after thirty-plus years, North Texas is finally on a productive track to put the Wright Amendment debate to rest," stated Congresswoman Johnson. "It is important for North Texas air travelers to know that, although the bill has now become law, the legislation does not take effect until the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certifies that the resulting aviation operations are in full compliance with FAA safety standards."
