Pelosi Statement on Rosh Hashanah

House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi released the following statement today to commemorate the start of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year:

"This evening marks the start of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. For Jews around the world, the Days of Awe, leading up to Yom Kippur, are observed by reflection and introspection and time spent with family. The High Holidays provide a time to look at past mistakes and practices, and for every individual to ask if they have lived up to religious teachings and their own potential. It is also a time to look ahead with joy at the opportunity the next year holds.

"Whatever faith we practice, let us use this time to remember the ways that each of us can use our own talents to help create a stronger nation, a safer world, and a brighter future.

"Best wishes for a happy, sweet and peaceful New Year. L'shanah tovah."
