Former Arizona Department of Transportation Official Named to Replace Secretary Mineta

Today, U.S. Representative John Shadegg, made the following statement regarding President Bush's decision to nominate Mary Peters as the new Secretary of Transportation:

"I applaud President Bush's decision to nominate Mary Peters to serve as the next Secretary of Transportation. I have known Mary for many years and I believe that she will bring a level of expertise to the job that is unmatched. She proved herself to be an accomplished and effective leader when she served as Director of the Arizona Department of Transportation and later as head of the Federal Highway Administration. She will do a fine job as our nation's Transportation Secretary and I look forward to her confirmation."
