Suozzi, Thanks for running for governor of New York. Thanks for traveling to Buffalo to take part in a debate Monday night that was broadcast on Channel 5 in Syracuse.

Thanks for your honest assessments of what is wrong with state government in New York, and for understanding how failures in Albany have had a profound negative influence on Upstate's economy.

Thanks for sharing your plans for cutting property taxes, improving the business climate, reforming state government and reining in state spending.

Suozzi and Faso, at Monday's debate and throughout their campaigns, have proven themselves worthy of serious consideration for the votes of Upstate New Yorkers. Suozzi, the accomplished chief executive of Nassau County, is running in the Sept. 12 Democratic Party primary. Faso, a former state legislator on the Republican side, will be on the ballot in the Nov. 7 general election. To both of them, thanks for your commitment to public service.

To Eliot Spitzer, who declined to take part in the Buffalo debate, thanks for the glossy TV commercials with the feel-good slogans.
