Darcy Burner Officially Files For Congressional Seat In Washington's 8th District

"I'm running for Congress because as a mother and as a businesswoman, I believe we need to change the direction of our country. It's clear to me that the politicians in Washington, DC are out of touch, the special interests have too much power, and it's time for Congress to focus on our priorities." - Darcy Burner

Darcy Burner officially filed to run for Congress in Washington's 8th congressional district today. Darcy has been running one of the most competitive campaigns in the country and is fast becoming one of the most talked-about Democratic challengers.

"I firmly believe we need a representative in this district who will hold the Bush Administration accountable and take our country in a new direction," stated Darcy. "We need someone focused on the priorities of families here at home, not the special interests in D.C."

The race for this seat has been designated as one of only 13 toss-ups in the nation by the New York Times and is one of the nation's top 25 races according to the National Journal.

Darcy has two campaign offices - a headquarters in Bellevue, and a field office in Auburn. With more than 1,300 volunteers to help spread the word about Darcy's campaign, her team has knocked on more than 13,000 doors and is making calls to hundreds of voters almost every night.

"We're very excited about our momentum," commented Zach Silk, Campaign Manager. "We have an army of volunteers, a successful fundraising operation, and the support of key organizations such as the Washington State Labor Council and EMILY's List. We're in a great position going into the final months of the campaign."
