Delegate Watkins Abbitt (I-59th) enthusiastically endorsed Senator George Allen's reelection bid this morning at a breakfast in Appomattox. The Senator was joined by Abbitt at the Country Grill, the first stop of the day on the Senator's 2006 Listening Tour.

At the breakfast, Abbitt praised Allen for his tremendous leadership. "He's done an excellent job of representing Virginia both as Governor and now as Senator and we certainly want to make sure we can reelect him," Abbitt said. "Virginians will benefit from his continued leadership in the Senate."

Abbitt has served in the House of Delegates since 1986. The former Democrat's district includes Appomattox, Buckingham, Cumberland and Nelson as well as parts of Albemarle, Fluvanna and Prince Edward.

"It means a lot to have Watt with me," Allen said. "I've know him since the days he was in the Democratic party. When I was Governor, the Republicans were in the minority in the General Assembly and I proposed several controversial bills that Watt supported me on and I very much appreciated that. He's doing a fantastic job for the folks of Appomattox and his entire district, which includes part of my old House of Delegates district in Nelson County and parts of Albemarle. He's a person I admire."
