State, Federal And Local Employees Get Behind Titus

April 24, 2006

A national union and its Nevada affiliate announced support of gubernatorial candidate Sen. Dina Titus today, giving her campaign support from 3,000 Nevada union members and more than 1.1 million public employees and their families nationwide.

Titus was endorsed by the American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the nation's largest and fastest growing public service employees union. The State of Nevada Employees Association (SNEA) has joined its national affiliate AFSCME to support Titus.

"It is an honor to be associated with these two organizations which represent a diverse group of hardworking people who are the backbone of our government," Titus said. "These people do everything to ensure Nevadans get the essential services they need. Public employees are on the front line every day protecting and serving the citizens of Nevada."

Recognition of Titus for her work as the state's Senate Minority Leader was what ultimately won her the endorsements.

"We feel she's the best person to lead the State of Nevada," said Flora Walker, Western Regional Director for AFSCME. "She has a vision and we believe that vision is the best for Nevada and everyone will benefit."
