Udall Reacts To Betty Dick Deal

(Washington, D.C.) -- Congressman Mark Udall (D-Eldorado Springs) released the following statement regarding Senate committee approval of a bill that will allow Betty Dick to remain in her home in Rocky Mountain National Park:

"This is good news for Betty Dick and I am pleased with Senator Ken Salazar's efforts to move our legislation in the Senate. Since the House of Representatives passed this legislation unanimously in July it would have been easier had the Senate simply accepted the House bill, but my understanding is that cosmetic changes to the language were necessary in order to satisfy Senator Allard. His opposition to the bill meant that Betty Dick would not receive the relief she deserves, so I am pleased that he has found a way to finally support the legislation. It will now be necessary to pass the bill a second time in the House and I will do all that I can to make that happen," said Udall.

Udall is a sponsor of the House bill that would allow Dick to stay in her home in Rocky Mountain National Park.
