Hensarling Statement on OMB Mid-Session Review: Tax Relief a Success, Economic Growth Continues

Congressman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) today pointed to the Office of Management and Budget Mid-Session Review and updated deficit numbers as irrefutable evidence that the tax relief passed by the Republican Congress and President Bush have resulted in an economic boom. Hensarling issued the following statement after the OMB Review was released:

"Today's announcement makes clear that the tax relief passed by the Republican Congress and President Bush have resulted in an economic boom," said Hensarling. "Just as we predicted, tax revenues have increased and as a result the budget deficit has dropped."

"Despite what Democrats might have you believe, the American people can put their money to far better use than Washington can," said Hensarling. "The federal government has never taxed the American people too little, its problem has been that it has spent too much. Congress must redouble our efforts to reduce spending in order to further reduce the deficit."
