Peterson-backed spending bill sets aside millions for small businesses, EDAs

U.S. Rep. John E. Peterson (PA-05) joined his colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives this afternoon in passing the fiscal year 2007 spending measure for the U.S. Departments of Commerce, Justice, and State, and independent agencies such as NASA and the National Science Foundation. The final bill, which also sets aside funding for important projects serving communities across central and northwest Pennsylvania, passed by a vote of 393-23.

"This bill funds critical programs designed to spur local economic development initiatives and help small businesses expand their workforce and invest in new technologies," said Peterson, who serves on the House Appropriations Committee. "It also makes key investments in science and engineering, which, over time, will make our nation more competitive both at home and abroad."
