"When I signed the first significant piece of gun safety legislation in decades, I said there was still work to be done to keep dangerous firearms out of dangerous hands.

And in the short time since then, communities across America have been struck by tragedy after tragedy.

"This week, @SenFeinstein, with whom I worked with to pass the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban, introduced an Assault Weapons and High-Capacity Magazine Ban in the Senate.

It worked the first time. Then, Congressional Republicans let the law expire and mass shootings tripled.

"It's time we pass an assault weapons ban in this country. We've done it before, and we can do it again.

I urge both chambers of Congress to act quickly and deliver this ban to my desk where I'll promptly sign it into law."
