Rep. Calvert Supports SBIR and STTR Extension Act

Press Release

Date: Sept. 29, 2022

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42), the Ranking Republican on the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, voted along with a bipartisan majority (415 to 9) of the House of Representatives to approve the SBIR and STTR Extension Act (S. 4900). The bill reauthorizes the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs, which encourage domestic small businesses to engage in Federal Research and Development with the potential for commercialization.

"America's innovations are driven by our leaders in small business," said Rep. Calvert. "I've been a strong supporter of the SBIR and STTR programs because I believe they are tools that can help our country maintain its technological edge. That advantage is especially important for our national security and ensuring that when our men and women in uniform step onto a battlefield they do so with a technical advantage."
