Murphy Votes NO On Inflation "Reduction' Act

Press Release

Rep. Greg Murphy, M.D. (R-NC) released the following statement after voting NO on H.R. 5376, the so-called Inflation "Reduction' Act:

"During a time when American families and job creators are suffering under 40-year high inflation, it's unconscionable that the House Democrats would pass such a gross spending scheme at the taxpayers' expense," said Rep. Murphy. "The so-called Inflation "Reduction' Act should be called the Audit America Act, as the bill does more to target middle class families than lower inflation as its deceptive name suggests. In fact, Penn Wharton analysis found that the bill would have zero measurable impact on inflation."

The bill is a disaster for American health care, private practice physicians, and pharmaceutical innovation. By implementing a one-sided socialist price control scheme, this bill will increase costs for seniors and families at the pharmacy and limit patient access to new live-saving cures. What's more, this irresponsible liberal spending spree raises taxes on all Americans, wastes $350 billion on Green New Deal priorities, and authorizes $80 billion to send 87,000 new IRS agents after middle class families. The nonpartisan Tax Foundation found that this Audit America Act could kill as many as 30,000 jobs while doing absolutely nothing to lower inflation. All Americans should reject this partisan scheme."
