Congressman Good Votes Against the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022 to Protect the Second Amendment

Press Release

Date: July 29, 2022
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Guns

Congressman Good (R-VA) today voted against H.R. 1808, the Assault Weapons Ban of 2022 as an unconstitutional infringement on the 2nd Amendment. H.R. 1808 would classify many popular firearms as "assault weapons" for the purpose of banning their commercial sale and criminalizing their ownership, primarily based on cosmetic features, making numerous shotguns used by hunters and sportsmen illegal. It would also put background check requirements in place that would inevitably lead to a national firearm registry.

"With the words "shall not be infringed,' the 2nd Amendment unequivocally protects the right of the people to keep and bear arms. The Constitution and Bill of Rights shall not be subjected to the whims of Speaker Pelosi and the radical House Democrats," said Congressman Good. "Rather than confiscating firearms from law-abiding Americans, we should work to protect and equip our police, crack down on violent crime, and hold Soros-backed prosecutors accountable for making communities less safe."
