Democrats' Partisan Appropriations Process

This week Democrats advanced a partisan spending package that will bankrupt our country and force every taxpayer in America to fund their Left-wing agenda. From rampant inflation, supply chain shortages, and skyrocketing energy prices, every American can feel the pain of a Democrat one-party rule. Yet, instead of addressing these economic challenges, Democrats are adding fuel to the fire by continuing their radical spending agenda with their partisan appropriations package.

In just 17 months, President Biden and Democrats' failed policies have crushed Main Street and are costing every American family to spend more while making less. To fight back against their radical policies and best meet the top concerns of hardworking Americans, I was proud to introduce five amendments to FY23's appropriations package. My amendments would divert wasteful spending from a variety of liberal priorities to programs that would help all Americans. Speaker Pelosi was quick to dismiss all of them. She has made it clear she would rather advance her socialist agenda than find bipartisan and commonsense solutions to the challenges Americans are facing every day.

My amendments would have strengthened cyber security protections and expanded broadband access in rural areas, while preventing taxpayer dollars from subsidizing expensive electric vehicles. I offered an amendment that would have increased oil and gas production on federal lands in an attempt to provide Americans relief from sky-high energy prices. Unfortunately, Speaker Pelosi did not allow these amendments to be considered on the House floor.

Instead of providing funding to secure the border, restore American energy independence, and fight inflation, Democrats focus on their socialist agenda and remain out of touch with the real concerns of everyday Americans. I continue to fight against these disastrous policies and stay committed to the priorities of TX-25.
