Date: July 7, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Roger Marshall, M.D. released the following statement after the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently approved a Medicaid application filed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The application aims to improve access to care for underserved populations and enhance the financial stability of Medicaid for Kansans. The approval follows a congressional delegation letter led by Senator Marshall urging CMS to approve the waiver by July 1st.

"Approval of this amendment will help strengthen the Medicaid program so that Kansans in rural and underserved communities continue to have access to high quality health care. For over three years, I have been working with health care providers and the state government to get this approval. I'm pleased CMS has taken action that will allow Kansas to fully implement the program in a timely manner. This will have a positive impact on maintaining the health care safety net across our state," said Senator Marshall.
