On Memorial Day, Larson Remembers Vietnam Veterans Paul Ianni and Robert Venti

Today, on Memorial Day, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) recognized the late Sgt. Paul Ianni and Robert Venti, both decorated Vietnam Veterans and East Hartford residents who passed away this year. Rep. Larson entered submissions into the Congressional Record in memory of both Sgt. Ianni and Mr. Venti.

"Sgt. Paul Ianni and Robert Venti served our nation with honor in Vietnam, and they are dearly missed," said Larson. "Today we recognize the Americans who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service of our country. We are forever indebted to them for their bravery and courage."

Paul Joseph Ianni passed away on February 25, 2022, at the age of 76. A Vietnam veteran, Sgt. Ianni participated in the Tet Counter-offensive, and was awarded the Silver Star, the third highest military award for valor in combat, as well as the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the highest award bestowed on an Infantryman.

Robert "Bobby" Venti passed away on March 26, 2022, at the age of 75. A U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam, Venti was awarded a Bronze Star medal. Later in life, he was an active member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, American Legion Post No. 133, Army & Navy Club of Manchester, and the Disabled American Veterans. He also served as Post Commander of VFW Post No. 2046 as well as Master of Ceremonies for the annual Manchester Veteran's Parade.
