Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA) issued the following statement on President Joe Biden's State of the Union address to Congress:

"Tonight, President Joe Biden told the story of a strong and resilient America that has faced a challenging two years of pandemic anxiety and financial hardship -- and is coming back stronger than before.

"Thanks to the leadership of President Biden and Democrats in Congress, including the passage of our historic American Rescue Plan, we are recovering far better than experts predicted. Lifesaving vaccines have been made freely accessible in record time, our kids are back safely learning in their classrooms, and shops and restaurants across the country are open for business.

"Through our once-in-a-generation Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, along with the sweeping America COMPETES Act that we've passed in the House, we are delivering the investments our communities need right now to boost American businesses and jobs and create opportunities for people in every part of the country. As we move forward and build on this progress, our top priority continues to be easing the burden of inflation and lowering costs for families.

"Meanwhile, in the face of direct threats to our values abroad, we're restoring American leadership by rallying our allies and partners against Russian authoritarian aggression and reinforcing our alliances."
