Statement from Governor Kathy Hochul on Lunar New Year

Statement

Date: Jan. 31, 2022
Location: Albany, NY

"I am proud to join New York's communities of Asian heritage in the time-honored tradition of celebrating the Lunar New Year. February 1st is Lunar New Year's Day, and welcomes 2022 as the Year of the Tiger, aptly symbolizing the strength and resilience of New Yorkers after all we have endured over the past year."

"New York's Asian communities have long been an integral part of the success of our state and play a defining role in who we are as New Yorkers. As we collectively reflect upon the past year, let us look forward to the next with a sense of hope and optimism. Lunar New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are a time for family, reunion, and giving thanks, and I encourage all New Yorkers to share in this joyful occasion with our Asian-American friends, neighbors, and loved ones."
