Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04), Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) and Congressman Markwayne Mullin (OK-02) issued the following statements after the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced a grant award totaling nearly $1.35 million to the State of Oklahoma. The funding will go toward the cost associated with replacing emergency generators at the Oklahoma Veterans Centers in Claremore, Clinton, Sulphur and Talihina.

The Sulphur Veterans Center is located in the Fourth District of Oklahoma, represented by Cole, the Clinton Veterans Center is located in the Third District of Oklahoma, represented by Lucas and the Claremore and Talihina Veterans Centers are located in the Second District of Oklahoma, represented by Mullin.

"I am very pleased that substantial federal funding has been directed to benefit our state's military heroes, including those living in the Fourth District of Oklahoma," said Cole. "Replacing the emergency generators in four of our Veterans Centers will provide for continuity of operations and ensure care is still available in emergency circumstances. This is a win for our state and our veterans."

"Oklahoma's veterans served our country with pride and dignity, never wavering to answer the call of service. As a grateful nation, we owe it to ourselves to provide the best resources and utmost essential care for our veterans," said Lucas. "I thank the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs for this federal funding and for their work ensuring Oklahoma's Veterans Affairs system has the critical infrastructure needed to provide care for our state's veterans."

"This is great news for veterans across Oklahoma," said Mullin. "We owe no greater debt than to those who have put their lives on the line to defend our freedoms and it is imperative we keep our commitment to them. These grants will help ensure these Veterans Centers are able to operate in emergencies and continue to provide quality care to veterans."
