BROWN ANNOUNCES $200,000 FOR HOME REPAIRS IN YELLOW SPRINGS

Press Release

Date: Nov. 23, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Today, U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has awarded a $200,000 Housing Preservation Grant to Yellow Springs Home to help low income homeowners make critical home repairs, including the removal of health and safety issues. This grant will benefit 11 households in Yellow Springs.

"Ohioans shouldn't have to choose between critical home repairs or buying groceries," Brown said. "This grant will help families in Yellow Springs get the resources they need to keep their homes safe."

These funds are a part of the USDA's Housing Preservation Grant Program, which provides aid to repair or restore housing that is owned or occupied by low- and very-low-income rural citizens. Eligible grant recipients include rural areas and towns with 20,000 or fewer people as well as federally recognized tribal lands.

Brown has been a leader for Ohio's rural communities, fighting to secure crucial funding for USDA grant and loan programs. He is the first Ohioan to serve on the Senate Agriculture Committee in more than 50 years.
