Stop Messing With Texans' Reproductive Freedoms: Urging Passage of Women's Health Protection Act

Today, U.S. Representative Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) took to the House floor today to speak in defense of the fundamental freedoms recognized in Roe v. Wade, urging passage of H.R. 3755 -- Women's Health Protection Act, which the House just approved on a near-party line vote of 218 to 211, sending it to the Senate.

""Let Freedom Ring,' has been replaced by Texas Republicans with "Let vigilantes hunt,'" said Congressman Doggett. "Neighbor spying on neighbor. Offering $10,000 bounties on a driver, doctor, anyone offering counsel. So invasive that an Arkansas convict can sue a San Antonio physician."

"Protect the fundamental freedom of choice. Reject this narrow-minded, unconstitutional, GOP power-hungry, vigilante injustice," he continued. He invited all those who stand with his protest in the U.S. Capitol to join him and allies next Saturday at the Women's March for Freedom at the State Capitol in Austin.

After the speech, Rep. Doggett added: "To anti-choice radicals, we say: Stop messing with Texans' reproductive freedoms. While our time to speak today was greatly limited, this initial legislative victory we achieved will hopefully inspire more to act."
