Congresswoman Nikema Williams Announces 108,400 Jobs Created in Georgia Since President Biden Took Office

Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) released a new report from the Joint Economic Committee that found 108,400 jobs have been created in Georgia since President Biden took office. That represents a recovery of 82% of all jobs lost at the pandemic low. Georgia's unemployment rate has also decreased to 3.5%, well below the national unemployment rate of 5.2%.

"This report proves the economic policies enacted by House Democrats and President Joe Biden work," said Congresswoman Williams. "While this report is welcome news, we still have work to do to ensure our economic recovery is shared equitably. Black Americans are still nearly twice as likely to be unemployed as white workers and the wealth gap has continued to grow during the pandemic. That's why I am supporting the Build Back Better Act so we can create millions more jobs and have an economy that works for everyone, no matter your ZIP Code or bank account."
