Senator Reverend Warnock Statement on Labor Day

Statement

Washington, D.C. -- Today, U.S. Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock (D-GA) issued the following statement on Labor Day, reaffirming his commitment to protect the dignity of work and fight for hardworking Georgians' right to organize in every corner of the state:

"Amid this once-in-a-century pandemic, we have seen workers across industries, time and time again, put their own health at risk to provide essential services to their neighbors. In that spirit, I wish a happy Labor Day to the hardworking Georgians and Americans who get up every day to serve our society and keep our state moving into the future.

"My parents taught me the value of hard work, that people don't mind working hard as long as they get to share in the prosperity they create. Today, as we celebrate the dignity of work and the countless contributions workers have made to build our state and nation, we must also recommit ourselves to paving an easier road for working people and defending the rights of workers in Georgia and across the nation. That includes fighting to make permanent tax cuts for working people like the expanded Child Tax Credit, but it also includes protecting the ability to organize. Banding together and leveraging collective strength is an important part of the American story, and to fight for a livable wage, for adequate safety measures, and for better benefits and conditions on the job, workers have to be able to organize.

"On this Labor Day, I will continue fighting to pass the PRO Actin the Senate and standing up for workers and their right to organize, as well as pushing to pass policies that help working families in Georgia and nationwide thrive."
