Rep. Estes Applauds Reopened Aviation Manufacturing Jobs Protection Program Application

Today the Department of Transportation announced they will reopen the application process for the Aviation Manufacturing Jobs Protection (AMJP) Program, the bipartisan program introduced by Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) and Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kansas) last year and reintroduced this year. Applications closed for this program on July 13, but due to needed clarification between the AMJP and the Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC) programs, DOT will accept new applications beginning Aug. 4 and ending Sept. 1, 2021.

"The Aviation Manufacturing Jobs Protection Program has already garnered hundreds of applications, including many in south central Kansas," said Rep. Estes. "Our workforce suffered because of the COVID-19 pandemic and reduced travel, but the AMJP Program ensures that our local manufacturers can survive as our country returns to normal. Reopening the application has no negative impact on the manufacturers who applied and allows others to retain their skilled workforce."

Manufacturers who applied on or before July 13 and received confirmation of receipt do not need to reapply. AMJP Program applications will reopen at 8 a.m. ET on Wednesday, Aug. 4, and will close at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021.
