Boustany Statement on Additional Supplemental Funding

February 15, 2006

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Representative Charles W. Boustany, Jr. today released the following statement regarding the announcement by Chairman Don Powell that President Bush will request an additional $4.2 billion in his supplemental request to be allocated for the state of Louisiana:

"Today's announcement is certainly a step in the right direction. These funds will provide the Louisiana Recovery Authority (LRA) with needed resources to rebuild. As Congress considers the President's request, I am committed to working with my colleagues to ensure additional funding for Louisiana."

The funding announced today will be included in the President's supplemental request to Congress and would bring the total amount of funding for Louisiana housing to $10.4 billion. An additional $6.2 billion in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding was approved in the FY '06 Department of Defense Appropriations Act in December.
