PENCE STATEMENT ON ELECTION OF NEW MAJORITY LEADER

Washington, Feb 2 -

Washington, D.C.- Congressman Mike Pence released the following statement today regarding the election of John Boehner as House Majority Leader:

"Today, Republicans in Congress have spoken with the election of John Boehner as our new Majority Leader. I congratulate Majority Leader Boehner for his victory and pledge to work with him to advance the Republican agenda of limited government, fiscal discipline and traditional moral values during the balance of the 109th Congress.

"To restore public confidence in our national legislature, the American people rightly expect this Republican majority to take bold steps to put our fiscal and ethical house in order. On this agenda, I am confident that Republicans can unify as an effective force for change under the leadership of Speaker Dennis Hastert, Majority Leader John Boehner and Majority Whip Roy Blunt."
