Statement by Senator Mark Pryor on the Passing of Coretta Scott King

I join Arkansans in mourning the loss of Coretta Scott King, one of our nation's greatest champions of the civil rights movement. Mrs. King will always be remembered for her tireless commitment to the ideals of civil and human rights that she and her husband, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., personified throughout their lives. Her leadership helped our nation make tremendous social and legal strides toward equal rights over the last half century. Although we mourn her departure today, she will continue to serve generations to come as an inspiration to all those who seek to promote justice and morality in this world. My thoughts and prayers are with the King family.
