Jenniffer González announces congressional visit to areas affected by earthquakes

Aware of the urgent need for resources and assistance to mitigate the effects of the earthquakes in Puerto Rico, Congresswoman Jenniffer González Colón coordinates the visit of Florida's federal senator Rick Scott to the affected municipalities in the south of the island to expedite aid this upcoming Friday.

With Sen Scott's visit, the Congresswoman seeks to accelerate the help available for Puerto Rico as well as managing the problems with the Costa Sur power plant as her main priority.

"I'm looking forward to traveling to Puerto Rico to get an update on the recovery efforts after the devastating earthquakes that have impacted the island. As Governor, I traveled to Puerto Rico regularly and did everything I could to help the island recover after Hurricane Maria. As Senator, I have vowed to be the voice for Puerto Rico in the Senate, and will continue to fight for our brothers and sisters on the island. I look forward to continuing to work with Congresswoman Jenniffer Gonzalez and Governor Wanda Vazquez to ensure the island has all the resources it needs.", senator Scott said.

González Colón had announced that she was inviting members of Congress to see first hand the damages and help managing assistance for the people affected in the same way she did when Hurricane Maria impacted the Island.

The Congresswoman, who is coordinating the visit, plans to meet with the Governor Wanda Vázquez, heads of state and federal agencies working in the emergency, as well as visiting the affected areas to meet with the respective mayors and inspect damage to the Central Costa Sur.

Senator Rick Scott, who has been proactive in the Puerto Rico response and recovery processes related to Hurricane Maria since he was governor of Florida, has expressed his commitment to the island in the recovery stage of these earthquakes.

The senator is a member of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; Committee on the Budget;Commerce, Science and Transportation committee, among others.
