Congresswoman Miller Defends Life at Committee on Oversight and Reform Hearing

Statement

Date: Nov. 15, 2019
Location: Washington, DC

Congresswoman Carol Miller (R-WV) defended the right to life in the Committee on Oversight and Reform hearing, "Examining State Efforts to Undermine Access to Reproductive Health Care," which took place yesterday, November 14.

Congresswoman Miller's remarks as prepared:

Thank you, Ranking Member Jordan, and thank you to all of our witnesses for being here today.

As a mother, I have had the privilege to feel life quicken in my womb. Now, as a grandmother, I have gotten to experience the endless joy that grandchildren bring to a family.

I have had family members and friends who have yearned to be parents but were unable to have children on their own. Given this, I have seen the abundant blessings adoption can bring families.

However, I have become increasingly concerned as of lately of actions taken by my colleagues across the aisle. Washington Democrats refusal to protect babies even after they are born alive after an abortion attempt is heartbreaking. Our most vulnerable and youngest citizens deserve our utmost protection.
