Committee on House Administration Ranking Member Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) along with Representative Trent Kelly (R-Miss.) issued the following statement after the House voted to pass H.Res. 107, establishing the SFC Sean Cooley and SPC Christopher Horton Congressional Gold Star Family Fellowship Program Act.

"Since being elected to Congress in 2013, my team has worked over one thousand cases on behalf of veteran constituents in central Illinois, including many cases in support of Gold Star Families. I will continue to use my office to assist those who have given so much," said Ranking Member Davis. "The SFC Sean Cooley and SPC Christopher Horton Congressional Gold Star Family Fellowship Program will allow Gold Star spouses, children, and siblings, the opportunity to work for the House of Representatives in a DC or District congressional office. I thank my colleague, Trent, for his work on taking this fellowship program from an idea to a reality, and I look forward to seeing this program implemented and modeled after the successful Wounded Warrior Progam in the House currently. "

"The experiences, the trials, and the tribulations that our Gold Star families face will now have a voice in the hallowed halls of Congress," said Representative Kelly. "It is my hope that their voices will serve as a constant reminder that the military family is the backbone of this great Republic and after 18 years of sending our nation's best to war, we must always be prepared to take care of those left behind. It is my honor to assist our Gold Star families in any way that I can, and I am certain that this important program will serve them and our nation well."
