Gov. Ricketts' Labor Day Statement

Statement

Date: Aug. 30, 2019
Location: Lincoln, NE

Today, Governor Pete Ricketts issued the following statement in observance of Labor Day:

"Labor Day celebrates the worth and dignity of work, and the valuable contributions Americans make through their labor. Our state takes pride in its work ethic, and rightly so. Nebraska is among the top states in terms of the percentage of people contributing to the economy. I would like to thank the women and men who, day after day, give their best for the betterment of their workplaces, communities, and homes."

"Susanne, the kids, and I would like to wish everyone an enjoyable holiday weekend. I also want to remind Nebraskans to drive safely this Labor Day weekend. Every fatality on our roadways weighs heavily on me. All of us are involved in roadway safety, especially because so many crashes are preventable. When driving, put down the phone and prioritize the safety of your passengers and fellow motorists. We want everyone who travels over Labor Day to make it home safe and sound."

On Labor Day, Governor Ricketts will walk in the SeptemberFest parade in Omaha and the Labor Day parade in Schuyler. Additional details about the Governor's schedule will be made available at www.governor.nebraska.gov.
