Governor Tim Walz today issued the following statement in response to Minnesota Management and Budget's February 2019 Budget and Economic Forecast, which showed a positive balance of $1.052 billion for the 2020 and 21 biennium. This budget balance is $492 million less than the November forecast, which was $1.544 billion.
"This forecast validates the approach we proposed in our budget. Our budget looks to the future, and that's exactly what you need to do when facing slower economic growth. We must make investments that continue economic growth, and my investments in education, health care, and community prosperity will do just that."
