Supporting the Symbols and Traditions of Christmas

Press Release

Date: Dec. 17, 2018
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Religion

This year, Congressman Doug Lamborn's (CO-05) resolution to protect the symbols and traditions of Christmas in the name of religious liberty gained more support in the U.S. House of Representatives. The resolution is now supported by 56 cosponsors. It also disapproves of efforts to ban references to Christmas in the public arena.

Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement regarding the resolution:

"For many Americans, Christmas is a time for remembrance and celebration. We reflect on Jesus' message of sacrificial love and ultimate peace. It is a season filled with gratitude and joy. Yet a vocal minority have made a concerted effort to ban any and all Christmas traditions and references from the public square. This is an attack on the religious expression rights given to us in the Constitution. That's why I introduced this resolution to defend the religious liberty of all Americans. It would protect the public expression of Christmas traditions like nativities, trees, and saying 'Merry Christmas.' I urge its passage."
