Issue Position

Property rights are foundational to all the other rights we enjoy as Americans. It is one of the natural rights identified by the Declaration of Independence and it is further protected by our U.S. Constitution in the 5th Amendment (among other locations). Someone once said speaking of property rights, "If this right is not protected then all other rights become worthless." I agree completely. As a legislator, I will commit to ongoing vigilance against any individual or governmental entity that would seek to erode this sacred right.

Further, as a member of Highland's planning commission, I have already wrestled with the issues confronting property rights. This has given me an opportunity to formulate and refine my position in a way that will benefit our district and further protect the rights of private property owners.
