Issue Position: Putting Families First

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2018
Issues: Family

Montgomery County is an extraordinary community to live and raise a family in. Our schools, beautiful parks, vibrant local economy and easy access to public transportation are some of the reasons that many families choose to move to our diverse community.

However, far too many people in our community are being squeezed by our excessively high cost of living. From sky-high rents, to unaffordable pre-school and college tuition, many families are struggling to get by.

As a leader in the local community, Emily started an advocacy committee within one of our largest local Democratic clubs to help mobilize members on key issues that impact families in our region. Through this work, she has helped advocate for state and local policies that would expand paid medical and family leave, increase the minimum wage to $15/hour, and fight to improve and protect our healthcare.

If elected, Emily will take this fight further and will work to advance each of these efforts in Annapolis.
