As your state delegate, Clarence has been committed to helping our local economy grow stronger. He has fought for small businesses and finding ways to generate new jobs. While our economy has been growing, Clarence knows that there is still much work to be done. He will work hard as your state senator to:

Increase local job growth through targeted tax credits to small businesses hiring those who are long-term unemployed.
Improve workforce retraining so unemployed workers can find jobs faster.
Attract new businesses in innovative, high-growth sectors like biotechnology and information technology.
Foster greater economic development through strong public-private partnerships.
Strengthen our schools and universities so that our students will be ready for the jobs of tomorrow.
Expand access to small business loans and capital for local companies to grow and thrive.

Over the last four years, Clarence has stood up for small businesses by:

Supporting the creation of a new small business retirement savings program.
Voting in favor of a law that requires equal pay for equal work.
Supporting the establishment of a state program that supports employers in hiring apprenticeship programs
Opposing additional tax credits for big businesses that earn billions in profit each year
Voting against tax cuts for people buying luxury yachts so the money could be better spent on more worthwhile economic development and job creation efforts
