Issue Position: Proposition 127

Date: Jan. 1, 2018
Issues: Energy

Proposition 127 would require Arizona's public utilities to get at least half of their power from renewable sources by 2030, no matter how much it costs. Experts have projected the initiative would double monthly electricity bills for average Arizonans and costing a typical family more than $1000 over the course of the year. If you're a senior or are on fixed income you will get hit the hardest. Proposition 127 will cost of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in economic activity would be lost. Plus our school districts would lose out on hundreds of millions of dollars of property tax revenues if traditional power plants close prematurely to comply with the initiative. Why would we pay such a high price to satisfy the California billionaire named Tom Steyer who is paying for all of this? Steyer's energy policies have already wrecked California, where they pay twice what we pay for energy. Vote NO on Prop 127 and let's keep our energy clean AND affordable.
