All people should be protected from discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, race, national origin, and religion.

CRACKING DOWN ON HATE CRIMES

Since the last presidential election, bigotry and racism have been used as political tools. Many Washingtonians are less safe because of it.

I will seek changes to the law to impose additional sanctions against anyone who commits a hate crime based on race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin or religion. To be clear, I will advocate for sanctions to be enforced equally regardless of the perpetrator's race, religion, etc. We must ensure people's right to safety in the community in which they choose to live.
