Bono Votes to Update and Modernize the Endangered Species Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- In an effort to update, improve, and provide flexibility in the Endangered Species Act (ESA), Congresswoman Bono voted today in favor of The Threatened and Endangered Species Recovery Act (TERSA) of 2005. TERSA works to solve the long-outstanding problems of the ESA by recovering endangered species to healthy and sustainable populations through public and private partnerships.

"From my work on the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto National Monument designation, I have learned firsthand the great importance of public and private cooperation to preserve and protect natural habitat and threatened species. The monument designation was successful in bringing both sides together to implement a plan that protects the natural habitat while respecting private property rights. As we move forward to preserve our valued natural habitats and species, it is my hope that this bill will help facilitate this important public-private partnership for future recovery plans," said Bono.
