Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo., gave the following statement after Republicans in the House of Representatives passed a short-term budget which only extends government funding until Jan. 19.

"Congress skipped town before passing a long-term budget or finding a solution for dreamers who rely on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) - or for the children and pregnant women who rely on the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). I thought we all learned in grade-school that there's no recess before finishing our work. Congress should have stayed in session instead of creating a new potential government shutdown in January."
